Dior 5 Couleurs Garden Pastels Eyeshadow Palette ($59 for 0.16oz) is a new and limited edition five-color palette from Dior’s Spring 2012 Garden Party Collection. The shadows have been delicately embossed with a rose motif, featuring color harmonies inspired by spring. Garden Pastels, consisting of luminous shades of greens, is one of two Garden Edition palettes in this collection. I will be reviewing Garden Roses, the Garden Edition palette consisting of delicate shades of pinks and violets, in a following post.

It was love at first sight. The luxurious packaging, the gorgeous colors…what’s not to love? However, this love affair did not last. The color combination is perfect for spring, soft and dreamy like. But to my disappointment, most of the shades are on the sheerer side, and can be too frosty when wore together. The only shades that had somewhat of the opacity I was looking for were the buttercup yellow and frosty pale white. The texture overall was smooth, with exception of the soft golden green, which was a bit dry to work with. Even with a primer, I noticed slight fading after eight hours, although no creasing. As a luxury brand, and at this price point, I guess I expected more. Its fun to have, and may be a Collector’s item, but it’s not a must-have for me.
