Maybelline Color Tattoo 24hr Eyeshadows

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Eyeshadows ($6.99-$8.99 for 0.14oz) are cream gel eyeshadows that's supposed to produce intense, long-lasting and vibrant colors that create 24hr wear without fading or creasing.  It is Ophthalmologist-tested, and safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.  There are a total of ten colors/shades in the lineup, and I couldn’t help but to get them all (after searching high and low)!

• Tenacious Teal is a medium blue with a shimmery opaque finish.

• Fierce & Tangy is a bright tangerine-y orange with a soft shimmery finish.

• Painted Purple is an amethyst purple with subtle hints of shimmer.

• Edgy Emerald is an aqua teal with a shimmery opaque finish.

• Pomegranate Punk is a reddish burgundy with subtle shimmery sheen.

• Too Cool is a frosty white with a bright metallic finish.

• Bad to the Bronze is a warm bronze with a high shimmery metallic sheen.

• Bold Gold is a dark-yellow gold with a soft shimmery finish.

• Tough as Taupe is a mushroom-y gray taupe with a matte opaque finish.

• Audacious Asphalt is a grayish silver with a metallic finish.

 

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24hr Eyeshadows

Let me say, these shadows are pretty amazing for a drugstore brand!  I tested several shades so far and they did not disappoint.  Many compare these to MAC Paint Pots, and I can definitely see the similarities.  Both have creamy and smooth consistencies, and can easily multitask as an eyeshadow base (to enhance or make another shade pop), or as a cream eyeliner (some shades will work better than others).  All of the shades have excellent color payoff, many of which are opaque.  The only exception to that would be Painted Purple, which seem to be the weakest link for me, both streaky and lacking in pigmentation.  There were minimal to no fading, creasing, or smudging even after 10-12 hours.  I can’t vouch that it’ll last the full 24 hours (since not many people I know actually wear makeup for that crazy long), but who knows, these may just come very close to it.  What I do suggest is blend, blend, and blend rather immediately, since they do dry fairly quickly.

These shadows come housed in quite hefty glass jars with screw-on black plastic lids.  This glass material definitely gives the product more of a pricier and appealing feel.  Only downfall that I can see is the shadows may not be that travel-friendly due to its weight and prone to breakage (I would know since I’m the clumsy type, ha ha).  On the plus side, it should help the product from drying out.

All ten shades were a hit for me!  But if I had to pick a few favorites, it would be Bad to the Bronze, Bold Gold and Tough as Taupe.  And even though Painted Purple did not perform as well as the others, I'm still going to try to use it as a secondary shade or as a base to enhance my collection of purple eyeshadows.  I would definitely recommend that you run and pick these eyeshadows up at your local drugstore (don’t worry if they’re sold out; to my knowledge, they are a permanent line so it should be back in stock soon)!  These cream gel eyeshadows are a budget-friendly way to play and experiment with a new product similar to MAC Paint Pots without breaking the bank.  They have exceeded my expectations as a drugstore brand, and at this price point, it doesn’t hurt to pick up more than one!
